 “The Terrorists Among Us:
Radical Islamic Terrorism and the West”
Notice that luncheon is on Tuesday, January 17.

Charles Goslin, CPP
Senior Advisor for Planning and Assessments
Butchko, Inc.

The intractable nature of Islamic terror lies as much within the mindset and radicalization of the individual as much as it does within the terrorist organization itself, whether that be Al Qaida, Al Shabab, Boko Haram, or ISIS.  Military defeats of these organizations on the battlefield…will not eradicate the terror. In fact, the front lines of this war are not some distant land, but in our cities and communities. For this reason, we need a realistic and sober understanding of the problem, and more enduring solutions addressing this threat than exclusively military or law enforcement prescription. We cannot simply drone or arrest this problem out of existence.

ISIS, now more than ever before, poses a more virulent and dangerous threat to the west because of its destruction in Iraq and Syria. The reasons, which will be explained, are this:

1. The expectation by ISIS leadership early-on that their “caliphate” would be attacked and destroyed by the west
2. The nature of the terrorists themselves who have filled the ranks of ISIS.
3.  The potency of Islamic radicalization and the west’s persistent underestimation of it.
