Speaker:

David P. Cribbs, CPP, PSP

University of Texas Police at Houston

Manager, Security Risk Mitigation and Technical Services

Topic:

“Security Risk Management:
What Protection Professionals Need to Know.”

The process of assessing and mitigating risk in physical protection operations is often confusing and the subject of conflicting guidance. Is risk assessment the same as risk management? What is the difference between a threat, a risk, and a vulnerability? These terms are not interchangeable, and particularly for those pursuing advanced security credentials, it is very important to understand what they mean and how to apply them.

Every protection program must be built upon a solid risk management foundation that protects assets, reduces liability, and demonstrates ROI for protection dollars. David has built several risk management programs throughout his career in the aerospace, financial, healthcare and higher education industries. He will clarify the process of assessing risks from a protection professional’s perspective, and explain how to use the discipline to effectively build protection programs and sell them to the C-Suite.
